A Devine Guide To Your Daily Or Sometimes Skincare Routine

A Devine Guide To Your Daily Or Sometimes Skincare Routine

Is Skincare Complicated or Misunderstood?

Here’s the thing, we all strive to obtain or simply maintain, amazing looking skin despite age, gender, or ethnicity. That’s why the skincare industry racks up billions of dollars worldwide a year, and 49.2 BN in the US alone (1). I mean, who wouldn’t want a piece of that money pie! Big corporate companies get their other piece of the pie, by paying top dollar for bombshell-beauty models to stand in front of a camera, to chant how this skincare product is their “go-to” on social media platforms and late night infomercials.

With all the skincare options and daily routines available at our fingertips, it’s not surprising that we all can get sucked into a persuasive sales trap. In the year 2020, there are many misconceptions about “the approach” on how we should take care of our skin, as well as what to use, to eliminate all of our skin's flaws. Some may think you need to add a ton of products as a part of your regiment, a lot of money, or live in a certain climate to allow your skin to do its magic. But the truth is, in order to see the results of even pigmentation, a divine radiant glow, and the feeling of a “soft as a baby’s bottom” touch, is by using natural-healing products that will not have your skin bound to a strict routine, yet as a safety net to use when necessary!

Before We Begin, Let’s Discuss Why Sequence Matters!

You can think of sequence and skincare, as like two peas in a pod, they definitely go hand & hand. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m human, I don’t religiously use every-single, skincare product on my face or mix & match too many products at one time. However, the order of application and consistency is very important because it ensures that your skin will reap all of the benefits of each product you’re using. It’s also important to note, the way you apply your skincare products to your face, and trust me, it does make a big difference as well.

A helpful tip is to apply your products from thinnest to thickest, according to Dermatologist Michele Farber, MD of Schweiger Dermatology, Think of it like this, you want apply your skincare products with the ingredients that are going to penetrate into the skin (like antioxidants in serums) and finish with the products that need to sit on top of the skin (like emollients and humectants in moisturizers).
So remember, keep it simple! The skin’s job is to keep things out, but the many skincare products we use are trapping the bad stuff in. The goal is to shoot for the ingredients we want to get inside of our skin for good, that’s why it's a bad idea to mix products and inconsistently use them on a daily basis.
The ending result is damaging your skin to no return, and this can be caused by clogging your pores to the max and not knowing the ingredients we are placing on our skin which can be just as dangerous. This my Friend, is how you can create a serious case known as a breakout, aka acne. I mean who wants them problems? Ok now time for a POP QUIZ! Do you know another thing that can cause breakouts? That’s right, lack of H20!

How Does H20 Play a Large Role in Skincare?

H20 aka Water is not going to cure bad skin overnight. However, increasing your water intake can have a positive impact on your health, as well as your overall skin health. If your water intake is at an all time low, just remember that a lack of water intake can cause one to experience duller looking skin, with more visible lines & wrinkles. Poor hydration levels can prevent the skin from becoming plump and lose elasticity, which means the skin can be more prominent to cracks, irritations, and blemishes. After all, the skin contains 64% of water for Christ sakes!. So level up and whip out the water jugs because your skin is thirsty too!

Devine Ivy Skincare is the perfect remedy whether you need something for the day, night, or both! Devine Ivy truly believes in “Beauty Without Boundaries”, but if you already have your go to products then just go with the flow on how to incorporate your products to your regimen. And don’t feel bad if you don’t need to use a particular product, or feel like a step is necessary, just skip over to the next one, and build your ultimate, personalized, regimen based on the needs of your skin! Let’s dive in deep into the fun stuff! Here’s the best order on how to use your skincare products and Devine Ivy Skincare products, to make sure you get the most out of your money and time:

  Devine Ivy Daytime Regimen

"The remedy is to hydrate and protect."Your Daytime skincare routine is all about protection from the sun, dirt, and pollution. Oh and let's not forget about feeling overall refreshed, energized, and ready to start the day!"
STEP 1- Cleanser: Devine Ivy Sunflower Scrub

In the morning, start by splashing your face with lukewarm or cool water, to wash and exfoliate your face with your cleanser. If you want to add some fun to this routine, pick up a cool face cleansing brush available in the Devine Ivy Body Shop (hyperlink)

Many people, including me, skip toners due to the misconception that they are harsh and will irritate the skin, but this is not the case at all. Toners were created to remove excess dirt, traces of oil and makeup. Toners also help correct and balance the PH of your skin, and control acne. Especially if you have an all natural toner on your team. If you lived your life just fine without a toner, then don’t feel pressured into getting one. However, if you have a toner you like or curious about trying one, then go for it and stick with it!
STEP 3- Spot Treatment: Devine Ivy Tea Tree Oil Gel
Spot Treatments are totally optional, but if you have an all natural option, then why not add it to your regimen?  Many mainstream spot treatments are made with who knows what, that can dry out your skin and cause irritation. Leaving you pretty much worse off then from where you started. If you truly want to experience a skin glow up, well my suggestion is to try the Devine Ivy Tea Tree Oil or Aloe Vera gel for an out of this world leave on or rinse. These skincare beauties contain antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins A and C, and it is highly anti-inflammatory.
STEP 4- Eye Cream: Devine Ivy Eye Cream
It's important to add an eye cream to your routine! These creams can help maintain the health and thickness of your eyelid skin, and lessen the chance of collagen loss. That’s right, no bags here hunnnay okkkurrr! But why is this so important to have in my regimen? Because this area of the skin is the thinnest and most delicate part of your face and also the first to show signs of premature aging. Improving this area in your skin can help your eyelid to not easily lose its laxity, but it can create a smooth appearance everyone can admire and adore!
Think of applying a serum as a skin booster, different Serums address different concerns. These concerns can be commonly viewed as having the desire to brighten your complexion, or protection from inflammation caused by UV Rays/sunburns, or everyone's worst nightmare, wrinkles!
STEP 6- Moisturizer: Devine Ivy Anti Aging Day Cream
Everyone needs a moisturizer, whether your skin is dry or oily. “Even though your body has its own natural lubricating system consisting of glands that secrete oil (or sebum) to maintain a protective coating against harsh outside conditions and infections, most of us do need extra hydration after the havoc that sun, weather and harsh chemicals wreak on our skin,” explains Dr. Sandra Kopp, a board-certified dermatologist. So make sure to keep your skin hydrated when you see fit, your skin will definitely thank you for it.

Devine Ivy Nighttime Regimen

At nighttime, your skin naturally repairs itself, that's why your night routine should be all about healing and treatment. Especially if your skin suffers from sunburn, irritation, or dryness. "The remedy is to hydrate and protect."
STEP 1- Cleanser: Devine Ivy Sunflower Scrub
At night, start by washing all of the makeup, dirt, and build up that’s made its way into your skin over the course of the day. This step should not be skipped or compromised! Your cleanser at night is vital because this will be the time to truly exfoliate your skin, to ensure to remove skincare products from the morning time, sweat, dead skin cells, excess oil, dirt, and other debris; I mean the list truly does go on! You never know what lies beneath the surface of your skin, so whatever you do, please cleanse your face! Doing this daily, leaves your skin fresh and perfectly prepped to absorb your nighttime skincare products.
STEP 2- Spot Treatment: Devine Ivy Aloe Vera Gel
This magical combo is infused with different active ingredients, but for the most part, the purpose is mainly to heal, hydrate, and nourish the skin. If you are over using acne treatments for your face then throw them away and lean on something more on the natural side. Why? Because the more you layer on acne products, with no knowledge of the type of ingredients you're putting on your face, will only result in more dryness, peeling, and irritation. All you need is a dime to a quarter size of Tea tree oil or Aloe vera gel applied to the face/neck, and watch the skin glow up happen right before your eyes!
Apply your Toner as you would in the morning. One cheek, two cheek, forehead, then chin. Seeing how Toners are lightweight or similar to water-like formulas, they are best used after washing your face to lock in moisture, absorb other products in your nighttime regimen, and provide that final touch of cleanness! Oh by the way, this bad boy helps correct and balance the PH levels in your skin. Yaaaaas that’s right #NoAcneBae
STEP 4-  Eye Creme: Devine Ivy Night Eye Cream
Think about it, you use your eye muscles all day! From blinking, to squinting, or whatever else you do with your eyes, just remember your eye cream, day and night, is an important addition to your skin regimen because it will replenish and relax those tired eyes. It's also a great natural cure for dark circles or crow’s feet. Apply your night eye cream under your eyes only or you can go full face, and neck with it. There are no rules, you decide based on your skin’s needs!
Adding a Serum to your night regimen can help restore and regenerate your skin when you're sleeping. It's a perfect combination of antioxidants to help prevent dryness, dullness, dark spots, and acne. Using a serum at night can tend to provide the skin with reparative ingredients and stimulate collagen production, resulting in a soft, revitalized complexion when morning arises.
STEP 6- Moisturizer: Devine Ivy Moisturizer
This is your last and most important step left, the moisturizer. Your moisturizer can help hydrate and seal in all of the other magical ingredients that you applied prior to your face. Did you know when your sleeping, moisture is pulled out of the skin due to Transepidermal water loss, or TEWL. Many are unfamiliar with this term, that’s why I made it a point to bring it up, and educate. So keep that face nice and moisturized because we naturally lose water in our skin.
STEP 7- Clay Mask (Super Optional): Devine Ivy Skin Saver Clay Mask
Relieve your skin’s craving for extra attention with refreshing hydration. If you feel like your skin needs an extra ummpphh! Try a clay mask, these bad boys have been around since the beginning of time. I can’t speak for others but the Devine Ivy clay mask is an ultra- hydrating mask that nourishes and helps to balance skin’s hydration levels to reduce moisture depletion, leaving skin smoother, softer, refreshed, and supple. Rich clays dive deep to purge dirt and oils from pores.

In Conclusion, Skincare is Self-Care, Period!

Now that I shed some divine light to deliver your skin from evil harmful skincare products and rituals, that can do your pores more harm than good, choose your morning/evening treatments and your products, based on your skin’s of-the-moment needs.
I hope that you have a better understanding that there are definitely levels to skincare. Now please don’t take my advice as pushy, I just want that face of yours to experience a heavenly glow made from natural ingredients to help your skin not hinder. I get it, buying new skincare products are fun and exciting, to where we have to try everything out at once! But PLEASE, I WARN YOU, to keep a leveled head when applying any products to your face and how you apply them!
